Ensaios de uma Coleção
On April 4, Thursday, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Galeria Municipal do Porto will open a new exhibition: Ensaios de uma Coleção - Novas Aquisições da Coleção Municipal de Arte. The exhibition project will bring together the most recent works acquired under the Aquisições program, which since 2018 has been boosting the contemporary art branch of the Municipal Art Collection. In total, works by 38 artists and collectives will be presented.

Expanding the Collection's repertoire, this new set of pieces sought to cover a greater multiplicity of artists and practices, in a more inclusive and plural logic. The independent selection committee was made up of the artist Mauro Cerqueira, the collector Pedro Álvares Ribeiro and the curator and art historian Pedro de Llano, who considered the artistic, historical and critical value of the works presented.

Ensaios de uma Coleção will feature works by Ana Hatherly, António Manso Preto, AURA, Bruno Zhu, Carla Cruz & Ângelo Ferreira de Sousa, Carlos Mensil, Carolina Grilo Santos, Diana Policarpo & Odete, Janaína Wagner, Jiôn Kiim, João Pedro Trindade, José Almeida Pereira, Júlia Ventura, Kenny Berg B2B Ronaldo Rosas, Leonor Parda, Letícia Costelha, Maíra Mafra, Maria José Aguiar, Maria José Oliveira, Maria Miguel Rodrigues, Mariana Barrote, Miguel Leal, Paulo Pinto, Pedro Huet, Rigo 23 / Programa Espacial Autónomo Intergaláctico, Rita de Almeida Leite, Rita Senra, Rodolfo Lopes, Ruca Bourbon a.k.a. Passage to Crystallization - Performance by Xavier Paes

Passage to Crystallisation is a percussion piece that merges sound and image through the drawing of a musical score.
Based on the exploration of rhythmic exercises, a neumatic landscape is created in real time, through a performance that explores the relationships between music, time, movement and notation systems.

Xavier Paes is a transdisciplinary artist. He is interested, among other things, in ideas such as sound and noise, echo and ecology, resonant bodies and the human condition.

Santa Barba, paisagem imaginária - Performance by Paulo Pinto

By exalting one of his alter egos, Paulo Pinto brings together poetry, theatre and music in a hybrid performance.
Loaded with references to Brazilian popular culture and religious identities, the piece is a mirror of autobiographical emotions about happiness, loss, mourning... "A sensitive sharing to unburden silences and lull your child to sleep".
